Uz Truck and Bus Motors

Established in 2009, MAN Auto-Uzbekistan brought together Uzbekistan’s Uzavtosanoat and Germany’s MAN. The joint venture’s original charter capital was €3 million, with the Uzbek partner holding 51% and MAN 49%.

Initially, trucks were assembled at the Samarkand Automobile Plant. Production subsequently moved to a dedicated factory in the Jambay district of Samarkand Region, completed on 30 July 2012. This gave the partnership its own manufacturing base for commercial vehicles.

The operation also developed an industrial service network. The MAN centre opened in December 2011 could service and repair more than 1,500 trucks annually. A dealer-hosted company profile records production of 480 vehicles in 2010, 658 in 2011 and more than 1,000 in 2012, demonstrating growth in actual output.

In January 2020, Sinotruk joined through a reported US$12.1 million equity investment. The associated expansion programme targeted annual capacity of 6,000 vehicles, up from 3,000, and the company became Uz Truck and Bus Motors. These capacity figures describe the announced expansion programme.
