China National Petroleum Corporation

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) plays a strategic role in developing Uzbekistan’s regional gas-transport infrastructure, primarily through Asia Trans Gas, an equal 50/50 joint venture with Uzbekneftegaz. The venture engineered and operates the Uzbek transit corridor of the Central Asia–China Gas Pipeline system, spanning 530 kmacross Uzbek territory. Capital expenditure for this infrastructure represents a multi-billion-dollar commitment, including $3.5+ billion in syndicated financing for Lines A and B and approximately $2.2 billion for the construction of Line C. The combined three-line transmission network provides a throughput capacity of 55 billion m³ of natural gas per year, securing vital transit revenues for Uzbekistan, facilitating domestic gas export delivery, and solidifying the country’s role as a Central Asian energy hub.
