Aksa Energy

Turkish power producer Aksa Energy entered Uzbekistan in 2020 through long-term agreements to construct and operate high-efficiency, natural-gas-fired power plants. The company built an initial portfolio comprising 740 MW of installed capacity across three facilities: a 240 MW plant and a 230 MW facility in the Tashkent Region, alongside a 270 MWplant in the Bukhara Region, all entering commercial operation in 2022. Aksa Energy subsequently expanded its capital deployment by investing $250 million into a 400 MW gas piston thermal plant in the Nishan district of Kashkadarya, while its parent group, Kazancı Holding, committed $1 billion under a 30-year concession contract to modernize Samarkand’s regional power distribution network. Operating under long-term power-purchase agreements, the facilities utilize flexible gas-engine and combined-cycle systems to reinforce grid stability, meet mounting electricity demand, and broaden private-sector investment in Uzbekistan’s energy market.
