Ajou University in Tashkent

Ajou University in Tashkent grew out of an agreement signed in April 2019 between Uzbekistan and Ajou University, a Korean university in Suwon founded in 1973. A management agreement was signed in February 2021 and the university opened that month. The Uzbek government provided the buildings and campus.

The first programmes, the AU Diploma Program, started in 2021 in civil and construction engineering, architecture, and electrical and computer engineering. In September 2023 the AUT Diploma Program added Korean and English philology and management, IT-Business, software and business administration. Instruction is in English, and Ajou instructors teach more than 25% of major courses.

As of 1 October 2023 the university had 1,516 students and 59 faculty members: 10 from Ajou University and 49 local staff.
