South Korean company to take part in modernization of Kuvasay heat supply system

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea organized videoconference between the Deputy Khokim of Fergana region M. Abdurakhmonov, leadership of Hyundai Engineering and Korea – Uzbekistan Business Association (KUBA) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea.

The parties discussed issues of modernizing the heat supply system of the city of Kuvasay through the introduction of cogeneration technologies. Discussions on this project began during the visit of the Khokim of Fergana region Sh. Ganiyev to the Republic of Korea in July this year, during which a meeting was held with the leadership of Hyundai Engineering.

Information was exchanged on the current state of Kuvasay hydroelectric power station, the prospects for its reconstruction or construction of a new facility, as well as a thorough study of project financing.

Representatives of Hyundai Engineering expressed interest in the implementation of this project and announced their readiness to send the company’s experts to Fergana region to meet with responsible leaders and become familiar with the object. The South Korean side proposed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of this project.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to continue discussions and exchange of information, as well as to sign a bilateral document following a study by Hyundai Engineering experts of Kuvasay’s heat supply systems.
