A meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the World Trade Organization (WTO) chaired by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov was held on 17 June this year.
During the event, the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO and the preparations for the next 5th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, which will be held from 21 to 22 June this year, were critically reviewed.
It was noted that the accession of our country to the WTO is one of the economic priorities of the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026. In this regard, it was emphasized that in carrying out this task it is necessary to use the high potential of educated and qualified personnel of relevant ministries and departments.
The event heard information on the preparations for the forthcoming meeting of the Working Group on multilateral and bilateral negotiations, including the previously presented factual opinion, technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, protection of intellectual property rights and other documents.
The heads of relevant ministries and departments were given targeted instructions on the quality and comprehensive preparation for the 5th meeting of the Working Group and the negotiations.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan coordinates and regularly monitors the preparation for future events.
At the end of the meeting, the tasks of each member of the Negotiation Group sent to participate in the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, including measures to intensify the process of negotiations on accession to the Organization and the transition to the next stage, the draft Working Group Report was given.
