Uzbekistan’s chemical sector has a compelling story to tell. Building on an abundance of rich mineral resources, the industry specialises in producing nitrogen, phosphate fertilizers and basic petrochemicals. With large-scale production facilities located in Chirchiq, Ferghana, and Navoiy, the industry is benefiting from modernisation efforts and government initiatives.

The 2019-2030 National Programme for the development of the chemical industry has identified 31 projects with a total value of $12 billion. The government plans to increase production of higher value-added goods through mineral processing such PVC, synthetic rubbers and polymer composites.

To further build out Uzbekistan’s investment appeal, there’s growing interest in developing chemicals to support regional sectors such as textiles, construction and agriculture.

With strong domestic demand, and a strategic position from which to export to neighbouring Central Asian markets, Uzbekistan’s chemical resources could be the key to unlocking its full economic potential.
