Organizational moments and information on obtaining a visa to Uzbekistan

 

VISA OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreign citizens and stateless persons may enter Uzbekistan and transit through its territory only if they have entry visas.

Visas to foreign citizens and stateless persons are issued in diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad on the basis of visa support (confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

Visa support is issued on the basis of a petition of inviting legal entities and individuals permanently or temporarily staying on the territory of Uzbekistan, represented in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The list of necessary documents for inviting foreigners by legal entities:

— Visa application on the letterhead of the organization of the established sample;
— Electronic application form from evisa.mfa.uz website;
— Copies of passports of the invited person, the head of the organization and the authorized person of the organization, for submission of documents;
— Copies of documents for the organization (license, certificates, etc.);
— Copies of orders to the head and authorized person;
— A copy of the power of attorney of the organization for the authorized person;
— When applying for a visa upon arrival at Tashkent airport, you must also provide copies of air tickets or reservations;
— Certificate from the workplace of the invited person.

The list of necessary documents for inviting foreigners by individuals::

 — Visa application form;
— Electronic application form from evisa.mfa.uz website;
— Copies of passports of the invited and inviting person;
— The original notice of the invitation issued by the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
— Copies of documents confirming family ties (if any);
— When applying for a visa upon arrival at Tashkent airport, you must also provide copies of air tickets or reservations.

The period for consideration of applications of legal entities and individuals in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is 10 working days, subject to the established procedure for submitting documents.

To obtain a visa, foreign citizens and stateless persons must submit the following documents to the diplomatic mission or consular office of Uzbekistan abroad:
  •  a passport or document of a stateless person, the validity period of which must exceed the validity period of the visa by at least 3 months;
  • filled visa application form in 2 copies;
  • 2 color passport size photos.

To obtain a transit visa, foreign citizens and stateless persons, in addition to the above documents, must also have a visa of the state of travel and travel documents with a confirmed date of departure from Uzbekistan to the country of destination. The term of consideration of visa documents in this case is 3 days.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons intending to arrive in Uzbekistan from a country where there is no diplomatic mission or consular office of Uzbekistan can receive visas upon arrival in the visa support sector of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan at Tashkent International Airport. To do this, the inviting legal entity or an individual in the territory of Uzbekistan must, in due time, apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan in due course, receive the appropriate confirmation (stamp) of the visa support department of the Consular Department and send it to the invited person. This confirmation is presented by the invited person when purchasing an air ticket, passing passport control in the host country and on its basis a visa is issued on arrival in the visa support sector of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan at Tashkent International Airport.

For registration and issuance of visas, the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan provides for the following consular fees:

a) For single entry visas:

up to 7 days – 40 USD;

up to 15 days – 50 USD;

up to 30 days – 60 USD;

up to 3 months – 80 USD;

up to 6 months – 120 USD;

up to 1 year – 160 USD.

Note: for each additional visa multiplicity tariff rate increases by 10 USD.

b) For multiple entry visas:

up to 6 months – 150 USD;

up to 1 year – 250 USD.

c) For transit visas:

up to 72 hours – 40 USD;

for a double transit visa – 50 USD.

d) For group visas (the group must have at least 5 people, excluding children under 16):

up to 15 days – 15 USD per person;

up to 30 days – 25 USD per person.

When issuing visas, fees are also charged for reimbursement of the actual costs associated with obtaining visas. The amount of such fees depends on the place of visa issuance (regardless of the applicant’s citizenship).
Note: For citizens of states with which there are relevant bilateral agreements and arrangements, a different procedure may be provided for obtaining entry visas to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Visa regime of Uzbekistan with separate states

1. A bilateral visa-free regime has been established with Kyrgyzstan (up to 60 days), Tajikistan (up to 30 days), Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.

2. A visa-free regime is introduced for 30 days period for citizens of Andorra Principality, Australian Union, Austrian Republic, Argentine Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina,  Brunei Darussalam State, Canada, Czech Republic, Federative Republic of Brazil, Federal Republic of Germany, Finland Republic, French Republic, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Hungary, Greek Republic, Israel, Indonesia, Ireland, Iceland, Italian Republic,  Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Principality of Monaco, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Portugal Republic, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Republic of Korea, Republic of Malta, Republic of Poland, Republic of San Marino, Republic of Serbia, Singapore, Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Chile, Romania, Slovak Republic, Republic of Turkey, Swiss Confederation, Republic of Estonia, Japan, UUU, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland , Vatican.

The visa-free regime applies to citizens of these countries, holders of all categories of passports (diplomatic, official and civil), who plan to visit the Republic of Uzbekistan for up to 30 days, regardless of the purpose of their trip. To enter the country, a person must have a valid national passport or other replacement document used when traveling to foreign countries.
The visa-free regime does not apply to stateless persons who permanently reside in the territories of these countries.
The visa-free regime is valid for 30 days from the date of entry to Uzbekistan. Before the end of the 30-day visa-free stay, a foreign citizen must leave the Republic of Uzbekistan. Exceeding the 30-day visa-free stay is a violation of the rules for the stay of foreign citizens in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Accordingly, if it is necessary to stay in Uzbekistan for more than 30 days, a foreign citizen must receive, in the prescribed manner, an entry visa to the Republic of Uzbekistan corresponding to the purpose of the trip.

3. Visa-free entry to the Republic of Uzbekistan for foreign citizens up to 16 year old with biometric travel document. In this case they must be accompanied by legal representatives and they can stay in Uzbekistan for the duration of the visa of the accompanying person, but not more than ninety days since the date of entry into the country.

4.The visa regime is canceled from January 1, 2021: for citizens of China (as a part of tourist groups), the USA and Vietnam provided that they have reached the age of 55 enter the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourist purposes for a period not exceeding 30 days.

5. A visa-free regime is established with China, Hungary, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan (up to 30 days), India, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam (up to 60 days), Brazil, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Estonia, Kuwait and Turkey (up to 90 days). Citizens of these countries (except India) who hold diplomatic passports and are accredited as employees of diplomatic missions or consular offices of their countries located on the territory of Uzbekistan, as well as members of their families have the right to enter and stay without visas for the entire period of work.

6. Introduced the system of issuing electronic entry tourist visas (e-visa.gov.uz) for foreign citizens, which has simplified the procedure of issuing visas (list of countries in Attachment 1);

Starting from March 15, 2019, new system of electronic entry visas with a validity period of 30 days has been introduced:

– double entry, with a consular fee of $ 35;

– multiple entry, with a consular fee of $ 50.

6. Introduced new short-term transit visa-free entry to the Republic of Uzbekistan for a period of five days for a citizens of several countries (list of countries in Attachment 2). In this case the foreigners must come through international airports of Uzbekistan, showing to frontier officer that they have an air ticket of “Uzbekistan Airways” National aircompany to a third country. This procedure is applying to transiting passengers wishing to explore the sights-seeing of Uzbekistan.

7. Uzbekistan and Japan issue visas without consular fees on the mutual basis.

Note: If necessary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan has the right to impose restrictions on obtaining an electronic entry visa for foreign citizens for a period of up to 30 days.
