Turkish holding TAV Airports attracted to modernize airports

Turkish airport operator TAV will take part in the modernization of Uzbekistan’s airports and the construction of a new airport in Tashkent, Anadolu news agency reported.

“Based on our know-how helping us to manage 15 airports in eight countries, we will work on the development and modernization of airports in Uzbekistan, as well as cooperate in the implementation of new technologies and human resource development,” explained Sani, CEO of TAV Airports Sener.

Airports of Uzbekistan will begin to be transferred to management on a “package principle”, which implies transferring unprofitable airports along with profitable ones to private owners.

TAV Airports is a joint venture between the Tepe and Akfen groups and Airport Consulting Vienna in 1997. The holding provides comprehensive services in all areas of airport activities related to air transportation at 91 airports in 26 countries. Airports owned or operated by TAV Airports Holding serve about 420,000 flights and carry an average of 48 million passengers a year.
