The cooperation will be established between Uzbekistan and the US state of Arkansas

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the United States Javlon Vakhobov met with Secretary of Commerce and Executive Director of Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Michael Preston.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, main purpose of the meeting was to establish direct contacts with the government of Arkansas, leading state companies, attract American entrepreneurs to Uzbekistan market and study best practices of the region in higher and secondary special education.

Special attention was paid to the issues of expanding and establishing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the state of Arkansas in training personnel for agriculture, increasing the country’s export potential by selling products of local producers through networks of Walmart and Dillard’s, as well as studying the experience of Arkansas in teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing children. The state is one of the leading ones in this direction, the first school for children with disabilities in the state was opened in 1850.

Representative of Arkansas administration expressed readiness to intensify cooperation between the state and Uzbekistan and informed about readiness to fill the agenda of bilateral relations with qualitative indicators and carry out all necessary work in this direction.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to discuss with Walmart and Dillard’s the prospects for developing exports of dried fruits and textiles to the United States, establishing direct contacts between local universities and the University of Arkansas, organizing a meeting with representatives of Arkansas School for deaf children with domestic representatives.
